Our annual family backpacking trip this year was in the White Cloud Mountains, southeast of Stanley, Idaho. It was a bigger group than usual -- my dad, my uncles Chris, Steven and Dale, my aunt Jeanette, my cousins Dane and Steffi, and me. We camped just outside of Stanley the night before we started hiking and woke up to plenty of ice on the insides of the tents (and on the noses of those who chose not to use tents that night!). We were a bit worried that the trip would be cold after that, but the nights were much warmer up out of the river valley. We did see a rain and snow mix one day, but fortunately it didn't last long. We didn't actually see many large mammals on the trip (some people saw some elk, but that was about it), but we did see signs of bears and mountain goats, so they're obviously around.
