Our "lab retreat" for work this year was a camping and hiking trip in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in southern Utah. We camped at the campground in the Calf Creek Recreation Area on Friday night and then hiked to the Upper Calf Creek Falls the next morning. We continued hiking down Calf Creek until we made it to the top of Lower Calf Creek Falls, but then we had to turn around because there is no way down the 130 foot drop. Most people headed for home on Saturday morning, but I stuck around and hiked to the bottom of the lower falls that day.
